About I am a multidisciplinary artist currently working mainly within stone and timber carving. I spent 5 years studying a Diploma of Visual Arts and a Bachelor of Creative Industries with a Visual Art major. During this time I found a love for life drawing and the human form and was then challenged to break into abstraction. I have embraced this change and currently work with carved abstract forms and trying to give them a sense of movement and life. Colin Tapping

Originally from New Zealand now an emerging wood sculptor on the Central Coast of NSW where I have lived for many years. I have been creating sculptures in wood for a few years and have not undertaken any formal art or sculpture training. Predominantly I work with found wood from the forest and surrounds choosing my raw stock on the potential I can see and how it inspires me. There is no preconceived design with each sculpture, how I imagine a piece does not allways translate as the design I must follow, making it an everchanging process and on occasion surpising. For the majority of my works I try to develop each sculpture without imposing external influences on the form, this can be an ongoing battle of restraint not to have any one thing represented. I believe this is the key to creating a sculpture that is individual, never duplicated and open to so many different interpretations. My early career was in graphic design with a break for family life. I then pushed further into fine art completing my Advanced Diploma in Visual Art with a focus on sculpture and painting. My work has been exhibited in local galleries over the last few years. I like the versatility of resin fibreglass and enjoy the option for transparency with this medium. It is also lightweight and strong. Anything that brings joy or inspires me is worthy of artistic contemplation. Ambiguous organic forms, figures and the ethereal have caught my attention lately. I was born 1970 in Sydney NSW and grew up in Terry Hills, surrounded by Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. As a child I made sculptures from white clay found in our creek. I live in Salamander Bay in Port Stephens, traditionally owned by The Worimi people. I look across to the Mambo Wetlands. There are many natural landforms , flora and fauna here to fuel my imagination. I have been exhibiting Paintings since 2011, the following shows denote sculptural participation. Prizes 2012 Winner ‘Waste Not’ Competition Honeysuckle…

Kay Pittelkow

Kay, educated as a scientist, worked with medical devices: heart pacemakers, bone growth stimulators, ear implants and lastly and most challenging, the Victor Change artificial heart. All through her professional life, Kay has maintained a vivid interest in the arts and developed skill and knowledge through the Sydney college of the Arts and workshops run by international artists. During this period, she carved sculptures designed for the urban landscape but later focussed on art jewellery – still with a sculptural element. In 2018 she returned to her love of sculpture mentoring under a local Newcastle sculptor and began entering regional shows (see below). Her residential scaled sculpture continues to be sold from her market stall (StudioKY) in the Hunter and Newcastle regions. Exhibitions, sales and prizes Belves, Dordogne, France.2017. I have been sculpting for over 20 years and am mainly obsessed with the aesthetic potential of the circular and what can be created through the dissection and reconfiguration of radial arcs. Victoria Norman

I began my sculpture journey by myself in a ‘studio’ which was actually a cupboard under the stairs. My flat mates at the time knew where I had been as there was a constant trail of plaster leading from the cupboard and leeching into various parts of the home. I found myself losing all sense of time and became obsessed with creating and when not creating, of planning the next creation. Over the next 20 years I continually worked and played and finally began my formal tuition at Sydney Art Space. I have now had my own studio space for over 15 years and am constantly gathering information, growing my practice and challenging how materials can be used. I love every part of sculpture and love the discipline it forces me to adhere to in order to be successful. Will always be a work in progress.

Mark Niglia

Biography Mark Niglia from country Victoria, creates movement and life that allows others to interpret feeling through sculpture. He uses the energy of distorted metals to instinctively create life-size sculptures. Mark\’s artistic practice relies upon raw creativity to ensure every art piece is unique. His style incorporates the strength and power of the materials he uses, positioning pieces in a tumultuous yet organised way creating shapes and lines that portray his vision. The strength and power that a horse possesses, yet its ability to calm and heal allows Mark to create a wide breadth of emotion through the form of a horse. CV Mark Niglia of Shepparton country Victoria. I studied at La Trobe University, Melbourne completing a Graduate Diploma in Technology Education with a focus on art, design and creativity. My most recent solo exhibition is at Tallis Wines Dookie. Currently, I have work displayed at the Roadside Gallery in Wollombi.
