Leanne Berelowitz

I have been making ceramic sculptures for twenty years, exploring the concept of change. Through the transitions of immigration and raising children, my earlier dense, torn and tangled objects have moved towards simpler pared down structures using the continuity of the Moebius strip as inspiration. Using ribbons of clay that I create on a pottery wheel, I play with lines, thickness and negative space to explore forms that are simultaneously grounded and in motion. Born in 1969 in South Africa, I was raised in Johannesburg and moved to Israel as a young adult. I lived in Jerusalem for 10 years, before moving to Australia in 2005.  A former ICU nurse, I transitioned to ceramics after travels in London awakened my interest in art. I studied Fine Arts at Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, and a Masters of Cross-Disciplinary Art and Design at UNSW in Sydney.  I live and work on Gadigal Land, co-managing and teaching ceramics at Bondi Pavilion, and developing my sculpture in the liminal spaces of daily life. Mauro Badii

I’m an Argentinean – Australian, Sydney based artist that builds, sculpts, makes music and explores our unseen reality. My abstract sculpting works are pure personal introspective journeys. Sculptures allow me to deepen concepts and emotions that shape materials while also shaping myself. I started sculpture to connect with my late grandfather and experience first hand what he felt to sculpt clay, to shape the plaster and let go of the mind. Sculpting quickly became my main passion. “This is how it continues. There is no start. There is only doing.” I live in Maroubra, traditional land of Bidjigal and Gadigal peoples of the Eora nation.  I started sculpting 4 years ago yet my art journey starts many decades ago.  I grew up proud of having a renowned sculptor grandfather. I deeply remember the touch and smell of sculptures, it all felt quite normal and yet very unique.  At age 15 I started playing music and since then I passionately composed and performed with multiple original bands for over 15 years. I’ve been delighted to see my mother’s transformation into a…

Sam Anderson

Based in Northeast Victoria, Sam Anderson has been sculpting since 2007, exhibiting across NSW and Vic. His works vary from large 8m whale sharks that light up at night, to small delicate seed pods made from recycled pipe and antique wagon rims. Sam often uses the shapes already found in the recycled materials to form a base on which to work from. Sam’s works have evolved into a varied collection of animal and abstract sculptures that can now be viewed in his sculpture park, based on his property at Londrigan, near Wangaratta. From small things big things grew. Silversmithing was the start of my art transition in 2001. From there I became a metal sculptor, producing works for numerous galleries across NSW and Victoria. While taking time out from exhibiting during 2020 and 2021, I decided to develop a sculpture park on my 5 acre block in Londrigan, just outside of Wangaratta. It has been open to the public, with great success and lovely feedback. The sculpture park will eventually be open full time, with events and possible annual art…

Shannon Stone

Based in Diamond Beach NSW, I often work in steel, stone, precious metals and timber. I have a background in ceramic sculpture. I love to create works that show the hidden details of our world and  present large works that represent the small things in life. I grew up in Central West NSW. I taught myself to carve with stone and mud bricks being my 1st mediums.  I learnt to weld as a teenager at Tafe, but never really took it on as an art expression. At 20 yrs old I moved to the Northern rivers where I studied ceramics for 5 years. I created many works in timber during this time also.  During my early 30’s I moved back out west and began to explore welded steel art. I got a commission for a local cafe and at around 35, after a chance meeting with Harrie Fasher, having her inspire and convince me to show my steel works I began to exhibit at shows. In my 1st year I sold a few pieces and won 2 awards. In my…

Sharon Taylor

Sharon Taylor

I am a ceramic artist and have been practicing and exhibiting in the Newcastle/Hunter area for the last 14 years. I love to make pieces that can be put back into the landscape which has inspired them. Always looking at the plants and land formations around me, I strive to expose the hidden beauty in a captivating way. My ceramic sculptures are inspired by the natural environment, the shapes, forms, colours and textures of the landscape. I enjoy working with clay because of its versatility and the tactile processes of forming and making the works. As a ceramic artist, I hand build from any and all types of clay, often recycled mixtures with additions for texture. I was born in Weston, NSW in 1966. We moved to Bolwarra Heights. In 1972 which at the time was a lovely bush suburb with paddocks, creeks, trees and bushlands to explore. After a long career in retail and becoming a mum of 2, I started painting and art as a hobby. In 2006 I took a leap, Gained my HSC equivalent and made…

Stephen Hogan

Stephen Hogan has always admired the artistry, craftsmanship and beauty of old hand-forged and manufactured machinery parts. Where others just see scrap steel, he sees beauty, form and shape. He creates pieces that respect and preserve the original but strives to give them new form, life and meaning in a modern context. Hogan has been exhibiting his work since 2012.

He has done numerous private commissions and worked as a studio and installation assistant for Harrie Fasher.  He is now working full time as a sculptor from his studio in Bathurst.

Tobias Bennett Big Old Buck

Tobias Bennett

Tobias Bennett is based in Leeton NSW, sculpting mostly steel from hand forged iron to large scale reclaimed steel sculpture.

Drawing much of his inspiration from flora and fauna as well as mythical beasts. Tobias greatly enjoys the challenge of repurposing and reshaping steel into new forms, many of which will likely outlive him.

Rod Buckland

I started sculpting in 2016 mainly using scrap metal, a MIG welder and an oxy torch. I incorporate old tools, farm machinery, timber and occasionally other mediums to create unique one off pieces of sculpture. I have developed my Sculpting style over the years by finding unique shapes that mimic nature whether they are lying in a scrap heap or items listed on the market place as my inspiration and ideas. I am a born and bred local from Toowoomba Queensland. I discovered my passion for making sculptures back in 2016 when my mother Robyn, who is an avid frog collector, asked me if he could make her a steel frog. The project was put into motion in my backyard shed.  I am a Boilermaker by trade and downed tools some 18 years ago and took up an office-based role in the structural steel industry. I mainly make one off pieces of art mainly from scrap metal and I try to incorporate a personal part in every sculpture whether it be an old spanner or a piece of machinery that…
