Profile
Tara Mann

Textile artist Tara Mann, specialises in felting, dying & sewing using wool, cotton, linen & silk.

“I just love creating new things out of recycled, reused materials My work is environmentally sustainable, using natural fibres, I value using upcycling and reusing materials in my practice. I enjoy giving materials a new life.

I’m based in the rural Hunter area, am connected to, and expanding my local textiles networks. I exhibit felted vessel forms and create hand-made craft items for markets and galleries. I’m a fourth-generation textile artist, I have been creating and selling textiles now for over 30 years. I have a wealth of experience with different fibres, fabrics & dying techniques.

My work is not mass produced, all my pieces are individual and unique. I’m into craftsmanship – one-off pieces. I work organically, with care. My creative process is not rushed No two pieces of my work are the same. The textures, colours and form of my work are all individually unique. I endeavour to source local quality materials when creating including my felted vessels, scarves, clothing, bags, fabric, brooches, home wares, quilts and wall hangings”
