Artist Bio

Materiality and texture play a major role in the way Megan works with her concepts to bring her artworks to fruition.  Her art revolves around feminist ideas and explorations about the difficulties faced when trying to juggle the requirements of domesticity and motherhood with those of artist and career woman. With an aptitude for combining traditionally masculine materials with feminine ideas, Megan works mainly in the disciplines of sculpture and print making.

Megan McCarthy is a recent University of Newcastle graduate, achieving a Bachelor of Fine Art with Distinction and receiving the faculty medal. In 2018 Megan was the winner of NEAP and the Student Art Prize with the University of Newcastle.
