Earth is our home and too many of us are in knots over its future.
I’ve been fascinated by the termite eaten remnants of tree knots for years. Like us, each is unique and bears all the struggles of the tree repairing itself.
These knots entwine into a globe, the wire weaving us together as one in our collective home – Earth.
The piece aims to inspire people to have the courage to be less inhibited by fears and anxieties and feel the empowerment and sense of achievement that brings.

Rick Tailby
My work begins with a remnant of an old growth tree. I believe their very existence is a legacy to the resilient nature of all things. These relics unashamedly wear all the trials and tribulations of their growth and history with dignity.
By integrating these fragments into my work I hope to foster a greater love and awareness for country in the belief we may learn to truly understand and respect our place in it.
