‘Array 12 (Beacon)’ presents itself as an undefined totem. An earth block beneath a crystalline cylinder, the work talks to perception through inverting & enclosing surrounds. Much like a snow globe, it projects a pocket version of a world that’s a little different.

Sculptor Bio

Benjamin Jay Shand

Benjamin Jay Shand

I studied architecture at The University of Sydney, completing postgraduate studies before launching Studio Shand as an art and architecture office. My architectural work spans from residential to commercial projects, whilst my sculptural and design work has been shown at or commissioned for exhibitions inclusive of La Biennale di Venezia, Vivid Sydney and Sculpture by the Sea.

Throughout I have experimented across media, to realise a particular configuration of form engendered in essential materials, geometries and tectonics.
