Location

This artwork signifies my own transformation from battling with mental health.

There was a time I felt like I was drowning, and didn’t have much hope, little did I know it was leading me to a more beautiful place both within my self and in life itself. I needed to go through these hard times to have gratitude for the beautiful life I have now.

The strength a butterfly needs to fly is the same strength it takes for it to get out of its cocoon. Just like this artwork, you have to let go of what you have known.

The cost of your new life is the price of your old one.

Sculptor Bio

Mitchell Curtis

Mitchell Curtis

I’m a panel beater by trade and have worked in metal fab the last 8 years.

Since I was young, I’ve always enjoyed art and creating things. 2025 has been a big year for me so far. I bought a house which has allowed me to have a space I can use to create sculptures from metal and bring my ideas to reality.

I’m very excited to see what the future holds as this is the first sculpture I’ve made and this is my first competition.

Exhibitions

Haven't participated in any before, this is my first competition.
