This stained glass spiderweb came from my love of spiders.
As a child I collected spiders and even kept Redbacks in my bedroom – securely in jars of course! As such I always wanted to do something on a larger scale using my medium – glass – supported by a frame made locally by a blacksmith.
It has been created as an outdoor piece that can be mounted securely in place. I have been creating in stained glass for over 40 years, but only in the past 3 years have I started to explore using glass as art.
Nature is my biggest inspiration, with many birds, dragonflies, gum leaves being very popular. Not everyone loves spiders, but at least this spider won’t move around unexpectedly.

Translucent Tension | 2025
I create glass art that blends traditional and contemporary techniques, using repurposed glass to add history and sustainability. With 40 years of experience, I began with leadlight windows and Tiffany-style lamps, returning in 2001 with a nature-inspired focus.
Living close to nature, I draw from birds, insects, and landscapes to inform my designs. My work explores transformation, preservation, and time, embracing imperfection and renewal.
By reclaiming glass, I highlight its artistic potential and aim to inspire a deeper connection to nature, materials, and the value of craftsmanship.
