Being Submerged in Silence | 2022

This is a wall piece hung in split batten style. Dudek’s wall sculptures investigate the complexity of seemingly simple and elegant geometric forms. Shifting shadows present as deepened monochromatic shades in the internal spaces of the works while the glow of gradated hues spreads outward and beyond the form. The shifts in natural light and atmospherics provide unpredictable and surprising visual experiences. In this way, Dudek’s practice sets up a slow dance between her works’ formal elements and the viewer’s bodily presence, resulting in a sense of stillness and calm.

Maquette for Unrealised Fountain | 1988-1989

‘Maquette for Unrealised Fountain 1988-89’ references the pipe sculptures of the early 1970s and also reflects her renewed interest in figurative work. The interactive, dancing figures have strength and movement that can be seen in other work such as the larger-than-life, enchanting figures of Joie de Vivre of the same year, at Orica House in Melbourne. This maquette is from Inge’s private collection, as inscribed on the base, ‘PC’, and indicates her high regard for this work.

Cultural Balance | 2022

I am happy to accept commissions for similar pieces. By connecting with people from a variety of cultures, we can learn from each other and hopefully live in balance and harmony. The Arctic Terns, flying the full distance from north to south pole observe and connect our communities as they pause on our shores.

Dome Influence Struggles | 2022

This pairing is bluntly unharmonious. These basic steel domes veer dangerously close to the animal realm.
This work forms part of ongoing explorations in the vitality of matter. As a blacksmith I am interested in seeing my materials and techniques as collaborative partners, recognising and embracing how the material asserts its self during the making process.

Number 5 (Maquette) | 1973

Number 5 (Maquette), 1973 is the maquette designed for a larger sculpture (150 x 296 x 275 cm) that was made for Woden Valley Hospital in the ACT. The horizontal pipes, supported by their black verticals, appear to float above the base creating a sophisticated elegance. The interaction of the pipes creates movement and form. This small maquette was part of Inge’s personal collection, as inscribed on the base, ‘PC’, and indicates her high regard for this work.

‘Number 5 (Maquette)’ is made of aluminium. The black painted posts & base are steel.

4 Ladies | 2020

Having been to life drawing sessions at the Camelot Lounge, and feeling there was more to life than 6B pencils and paper, I selected some of my favourite sketches to take through to a more sculptural form. These pieces began with wax sculpting classes, and working in the figurative form (a new direction for me). It concluded with four of these bas relief pieces taking their way through the lost wax process and into cast 316 stainless steel plaques.

The price below is for all 4 pieces.

Individual pieces can be commissioned at a cost of $4,000

Hanging Sculpture, Seaflower Maquette (second version) EE 1/3 | 1974-2023

It was fabricated posthumously, by King’s trusted fabricator, Robert Hook, at the request of the Estate.

‘Hanging Sculpture, Seaflower Maquette (second version)’ is a larger Estate Edition of ‘Hanging Sculpture, Seaflower Maquette, 1974’. This sculpture was intended either to hang from a ceiling or to stand upright on its base. The pipe motif was a critical development in King’s oeuvre.

Delicate juxtaposition of pipes and rods create movement and tension, while the strong verticals convey a monumentality, indicative of King’s work. The hovering suspended disks between supports of uneven height convey the sense of rhythmic movement.
