Orb is a 1.5m diameter sculpture made from 240m of hand-formed aluminum, inspired by the shadow cast by a railway spring clip. Years of experimentation led from a rough steel prototype to this refined, immersive piece. As light passes through, Orb transforms, casting complex shadows and rotating gently in the breeze.
Originally a pendant light, it evolved into a large-scale sculpture that responds to light, movement, and space, offering a dynamic experience shaped by curiosity, persistence, and material exploration.

Pat Flanagan
I'm a sculptor based in Brunswick West. My practice blends technical skill with creative exploration, shaped by over a decade as a fitter and turner.
Since 2022, I’ve focused fully on sculpture, creating works that transform spaces and invite interaction. I primarily use Corten and aluminium to craft pieces for gardens, exhibitions, and public events.
Highlights include installations for Tesselate Topia, Loch Hart Music Festival, and Chewin’ The Fat, as well as second prize at the Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition for Warped and Twisted.
I’m driven by a love for turning ideas into immersive sculptural experiences.
