Shannon Stone
Based in Diamond Beach NSW, I often work in steel, stone, precious metals and timber. I have a background in ceramic sculpture.
I love to create works that show the hidden details of our world and present large works that represent the small things in life.
I grew up in Central West NSW. I taught myself to carve with stone and mud bricks being my 1st mediums. I learnt to weld as a teenager at Tafe, but never really took it on as an art expression.
At 20 yrs old I moved to the Northern rivers where I studied ceramics for 5 years. I created many works in timber during this time also. During my early 30's I moved back out west and began to explore welded steel art. I got a commission for a local cafe and at around 35, after a chance meeting with Harrie Fasher, having her inspire and convince me to show my steel works I began to exhibit at shows. In my 1st year I sold a few pieces and won 2 awards. In my second year I have 2 sell out shows at different sculpture events.
Since then I have exhibited 6-10 times a year through NSW and QLD.
In 2022 I had my 1st Solo show in the Bicentennial Creative Arts Gallery in Gunnedah. 120m² on floor space with 35 works on show
