Pumice – floating, light and pocked, all being evidence of its volcanic past. Here I have gilded these gifts from the sea hoping to retain their original sense of floating, albeit on a small and intimate scale. In this world we forget that everything is interconnected and that something like a volcanic eruption somewhere else has ramifications for us all; we breathe a different air, we see a different stone; we are deeply connected to any phenomena of nature.

Patricia Wilson-Adams
I have been an art practitioner, educator and writer for many decades. I use sculpture, installation and printmaking to make poetic and metaphoric connections with land, cultural landscapes, memory and environment – my childhood was spent on an isolated bush property.
It is important for me to make art that provides a sense of place but to connect universally. My work adheres to no specific style, however metaphors are often derived from the materiality of the works which have an aesthetic grounded in the reductive and the restrained considered to be an “eccentric abstraction”. Imperfection also plays a significant role.
