Symbolically weaving is compared to the work of the spider – spiders create beauty with purpose.
Here I have paradoxically undone the spider’s work by rendering wooden bowls useless and weaving threads that seemingly have no purpose, in order to create a new garden of the imagination aimed to entice and delight; surely the purpose of a garden.

Patricia Wilson-Adams
I have been an art practitioner, educator and writer for many decades. I use sculpture, installation and printmaking to make poetic and metaphoric connections with land, cultural landscapes, memory and environment – my childhood was spent on an isolated bush property.
It is important for me to make art that provides a sense of place but to connect universally. My work adheres to no specific style, however metaphors are often derived from the materiality of the works which have an aesthetic grounded in the reductive and the restrained considered to be an “eccentric abstraction”. Imperfection also plays a significant role.
