A little bit Steampunk, a little bit Mad Hatter, and all fun! My Steampunk passion kicked in for this slab-built top hat.

The clock on the left-hand side and all the workings. A barometer and its workings are on the right. The other pipes and cogs are everything you need in a Steampunk world.

While the amazing metallic glaze makes it ‘look like’ metal, the top hat is entirely made from mid-fired stoneware clay.

Cathy Stevens

My adventure with ceramics started as a teenager in Sydney. Over the years, I have honed my skills, learned from many inspiring teachers, and passed my knowledge on by teaching others.

Since moving to the Mid North Coast, I enjoy pottery, painting, and mosaics, having recently earned a Certificate in Visual Arts Ceramics.

My latest hand-built creations are inspired by Steampunk, which melds Victorian fashion with the Industrial Revolution, introducing a detailed realm that sparks the imagination using mid-fire clay and glaze.

I love making glazes, as they can often yield unexpected and delightful results.
