The First Agreement.

Presents a way to begin participating in respectful relationships.
Showcasing two spiralling forces transforming as they meet in the middle and becoming something greater than just the sum of 2 parts.

This sculpture is created in Cedar, a species that once populated this area in abundance. My hope in bringing this sculpture to this area, is to seed pathways for new respectful relationships with this land.

Sculptor Bio

Anton McMurray

Anton McMurray

Growing up in Melbourne’s Dandenong Ranges, I look to
the tree and the natural world as both teacher and subject, seeing natures mystery, intricate details and marvellous structural triumphs as inspiration for creating sculptures that champion these important qualities.

My studies in sculpture have led me to engage with master woodcarvers around the world, including Canada, Japan and Papua New Guinea. In Australia I studied under celebrated Melbourne sculptors Bruce Armstrong and David Wilson at Prahran Faculty of Fine Art, completing a bachelor degree of fine art, at the VCA
