My recent works are concerned with the symbolic effects of the cast shadow. The imagery draws on the Greek legend of Narcissus and Jung’s theory of the shadow as the ‘dark side of the self’.
High Flyer is about trust and love, but also about pure shared joy in the parent-child relationship. Even in this precarious position, the child is safe, the parent’s limbs acting as a safety net.

My inspiration for my sculptures comes from the landscape. Growing up in the bush with many Banksias has bought back this memory of the feel of the banksia bark.
