Nathan Keogh

I did not initially set out to engage in the creative realm. However, through adverse circumstances this newfound passion ultimately found me. My academic background includes a Masters Degree in Philosophy from The University of Newcastle in 2016, with a focus on painting and sculpture. Through this experience, I came to recognize that the art of creation can convey a depth of meaning beyond what language can articulate. Primarily, my work is rooted in abstractionism, with the human form serving as key inspirations. As mentioned above I’m a Newcastle based artist, predominantly playing with paint or getting dirty in the workshop attempting to make art. I share a studio with my partner at the Creator Incubator in Newcastle Primarily, my work is rooted in abstractionism, I’m lucky enough to be working in the arts. Which serves as motivation to be constantly contemplating and questioning. The Creator Incubator is where I’m fortunate to have my studio, a community of 38 other creatives. I have been fortunate to have my work displayed in numerous private collections and exhibited at regional galleries. Additionally,…

Patricia Van Lubeck

I’m a self-thaught artist (1965), born in Amsterdam, moved to New Zealand 10 years ago and then moved to Australia, Maitland in 2017. In 2010 I received a grant of 25.000 USD of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation to boost my carreer. Crystel Chen of gallery iShen said: “Patricia’s latest series ‘Unveiled’ pinpoints familiar human characteristics and paints them as refreshingly positive statements of individualism. Her series of landscapes are though-provoking metaphors personifying the endless roles we all inhabit throughout life. Trees are painted as symbols to represent particular characteristics. Patricia encourages the viewer to compose their own meanings from her paintings, but believes that the universality of these subjects will prompt people to identify fragments of their own selves in her work.” (group) Exhibitions: 2019 Blackstone gallery, Newcastle, Australia (18 May – 22 June) 2018 ‘Trades hall’, Bendigo, Australia First Prize WINNER (October) 2018 Art Revolution Taipei, Taiwan (18 – 21 May) 2017 Lethbridge gallery, Brisbane, Australia FINALIST (10 – 19 June) 2017 ART Art Revolution Taipei, Taiwan 2015 ‘100 Days of Dutch art’ Ishen gallery, Auckland, New Zealand 2015 Ishen…

Peter Simmons

Peter Simmons

I’m an artist that loves the natural world and uses my interactions with it to make my creations in the form of stone and or wooden sculptures as well as illustrations and the use of pyrography (woodburning) I’ve always  been interested in art from an early age but over the years I’ve let life interfere with it. I left the Navy and went to art Newcastlead college of advanced education to do plant and wildlife illustration but after a year I decided I needed a job more than an arts degree. I started dabbling in sculpture at Rodger Mcfarlane’s studio in Newcastle at the end of the 90’s and stayed the course with just sculpture and didn’t pick up my pens and pencils again until 2015 and haven’t stopped since. I also acquired a love for Pyrography over the last few years and now I’m retired I’m at it with a vengeance. Exhibitions and Prizes March 2000 installed “Snowgums” in Thredbo. 2001 highly recommended  Wyong arts festival. 2001, 2002, 2003 Darling Park sculptors society exhibitions. 2003 Tilligerry art prize 1st…

Ren Thackham

Making animals out of jackets, not the other way around. Ren Thackham is an award winning film maker and artist based in Manly, she only produces a small number of sculptures each year around her film career and has exhibited in Australia, England and Spain. Second Coat is a simple reversal of killing an animal to make a jacket and a lot of her pieces focus on endangered animals. The seed of the idea came from a production design job where Ren had to make a wolf mask out of leather for a film and she chose to recycle a broken leather jacket for the materials. Over the last couple of years she has created and sold many of these eco-friendly animal trophies. I’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to exhibit in various galleries in Australia and abroad and I recently had the honour of bringing home 2nd Prize at the Barcelona International Art Fair at Museu Marítim de Barcelona in December 2016. Sculpture on the Farm marks her final exhibition before production of her debut feature film, an action comedy called ‘Ridgy Didge’ starring…

Rod Buckland

I started sculpting in 2016 mainly using scrap metal, a MIG welder and an oxy torch. I incorporate old tools, farm machinery, timber and occasionally other mediums to create unique one off pieces of sculpture. I have developed my Sculpting style over the years by finding unique shapes that mimic nature whether they are lying in a scrap heap or items listed on the market place as my inspiration and ideas. I am a born and bred local from Toowoomba Queensland. I discovered my passion for making sculptures back in 2016 when my mother Robyn, who is an avid frog collector, asked me if he could make her a steel frog. The project was put into motion in my backyard shed.  I am a Boilermaker by trade and downed tools some 18 years ago and took up an office-based role in the structural steel industry. I mainly make one off pieces of art mainly from scrap metal and I try to incorporate a personal part in every sculpture whether it be an old spanner or a piece of machinery that…
