Scott Ingram

Scott Ingram is a multidisciplinary artist who exhibits nationally. His art practice includes drawing, marble and wood carving, metal assemblages and installations. He creates abstract and figurative sculpture, working with materials in distinctive ways that convey meaning to others. His abstract sculptures express the power of simple shapes in space. His figurative work expresses a subtleness hidden within the human form. The things he observes in nature’s architecture influence what he feels and creates as an individual language. Ben Hellewell

West Australian born, Myocum- based emerging artist and sculptor, Ben Hellewell has developed a unique style, self-describing his work as an “imaginative collaboration” with the natural world. An avid explorer, Hellewell spends much of his time in a meditative search foraging for his ‘treasure’ along our vast coastlines and creekbeds. An instinctive vision and child- like inquisitiveness enable him to transform his meticulously selected driftwood pieces and beautifully weathered timbers into unique works of art. The great Renaissance sculptor Michelangelo once said, “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free”. Similarly, Hellewell’s unique intuition engages with the untold stories of these foraged timbers, giving them a second life, a second purpose and a new stage for appreciation. Ultimately his works encourage the viewer to ponder the idea that humans are not separate from nature but a fundamental part of it. ‘East of Everywhere’ is Hellewell’s first exhibition. 11th June – 11th July 2021 @ Peek Gallery, Byron Bay.

Rox Dar

Rox Dar is a Maitland based artist originally from Wagga Wagga NSW, who moved in 2017 to study a Visual Arts Diploma at Newcastle Art School TAFE to further develop his sculptural pursuits. Self taught up to this point, Rox had been creating sculptures from reclaimed agricultural, mechanical and building materials for nearly 15 years, and gratefully immersed himself in more formal study under the guidance of the likes of John Turier and Braddon Snape. During his first semester of study Rox was invited to exhibit alongside graduating Diploma students, and was delighted to sell a number of pieces. This success, along with prior private commissions and acquisitions of his work, have motivated Rox to start creating pieces on a larger scale, with the goal of public installations in the future. Rox’s fascination with people’s anthropomorphization of his inanimate constructions and the ensuing emotional attachments that viewers project upon them continues to drive his work, as he strives to explore the mechanisms of these relationships and their underlying causes.
