Holy Kiss is a work about the dualistic nature of religion. On the one hand a comfort and on the other an oppressor.
Death of a Star is my attempt to represent the concept of destruction and rebirth as a universal constant.
I have made life size vehicles from old cars and trucks for myself and for others. This is a design for a different kind of truck or farm vehicle – I might make it to drive in.
Making work from defunct material is my way – I have worked on farms and on tractors. This tractor is from my imagination.
Atlantis was my companion sculpture to Dance of Flame and is about the ocean’s interaction with the earth using the same parabolic elements and lines to represent this concept.
This torso is almost abstract – my travels around Turkey and Greece – in museums were works that had been ‘aged’ by weather. Only a curve of a shoulder or breast let you see what the artist intended.
I have been making heads for several years – heading towards more abstracted heads and working with glazes and colours
The heads I make remind me of phrenology heads, we sometimes see in pharmacies.
The heads have become more abstract, and colours remind us of feelings. The nose has become an important feature.
My work consolidates illusions and realities of the mind that manifest through sculpture by transforming feelings and ideas into compositions that aim to stimulate new perceptions.
My work consolidates illusions and realities of the mind that become tangible through sculpture by transforming feelings and ideas into compositions that aim to stimulate new perceptions.
