Sculpture on the farm

Archie

I am a self-taught artist. My practice involves clandestine unexpected installation calling on viewers to pause and connect with their environment and to indulge in whimsical thinking. I predominantly work using natural materials collected over long periods from disparate places. I have worked across far western NSW on Barkinji country and now live and work in Sydney on Gadigal country.  Born 1984. Sydney, Gadigal country. I have no awards, prizes, commissions, collections or recent exhibitions to include.

Trenton Woolcott

Not a formally trained sculptor/ artist. Spent most of my working life in Sydney primarily as a school teacher. Choosing to work in Narrabri area for the last few years I had more of a chance to try wood carving and metal trades such as blacksmithing. I started chainsaw carving a few years ago and have found that the chainsaw is quite a versatile sculpting tool. I enjoy making large fruit items and botanically inspired work.

Patricia Wilson Admas

Patricia Wilson-Adams

My sculpture grew from working with artist’s books and realising that I did not like that a viewer could only access one page when a work is exhibited. I then began deconstructing prints to form small sculptures and later I began working on larger pieces dictated by available materials. This has become an overriding practice where I work between large scale installations and more intimate works which emphasise repetition in a minimalist tradition.  I have been a practicing artist, an educator and writer for a long time. My work focuses on issues pertaining to the environment, cultural landscapes and land usage and is based philosophically on a study of Ecophenomenology.  My work could be classified as Post-Minimalist in that it eliminates the descriptive, excludes the pictorial, narrative and the fictive, with a focus on essential form and the reductive.  My work centres around a sense of loss – loss of many close to me, loss of environment and loss of place.  I work in sculpture, installation and print media. Born: Tamworth NSW.  Education: National Art School, Sydney – Atelier 17,…

Willem van Stom

I have always had a love of nature and metalwork and am able to bring this together in my art. My quirky sculptures of animals and people are all hand formed from individually selected recycled machinery parts, horse shoes and other more everyday items. I work almost exclusively in found steel – sourced from cars, boats, combine harvesters, tractors and other farm machinery. Each sculpture emerges from the machinery to take on its own personality. I love to form new creations from leftover and defunct items that would otherwise be landfill or scrap metal. I have been exhibiting my sculpture since 2017, and my work is held in private collections in Australia, Thailand, United States, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.
